George Rogu M.D.

Dr. Rogu is the Medical Director of AdoptionDoctors.com. He is a General Pediatrician, who has been working in the field of General Pediatrics and Adoption Medicine for over a decade. Dr. Rogu received his medical degree from the University of Medicine at Bucharest Romania, and his Pediatric Post-graduate training from Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Rogu regularly sees patients in his adoption-friendly private practice, while also maintaining the Web site for AdoptionDoctors.com.

Through the AdoptionDoctors.com Web site, Dr. Rogu is available to review medical records, videotapes, and pictures, as well as for telephone consultations with families who are considering adopting an international or domestic child. All medical interactions are performed via e-mail, express mail, telephone, and fax. There is no need to make appointments and travel outside or your hometown. A unique aspect of our service is that we can come to you.

Dr. Rogu now practices in Long Island, New York, with the rest of the staff of Adoptiondoctors.com. He is an integral part of the educational component of its services. He is the founder of the AdoptionDoctors Web site, he coordinates the medical information provided in the Ask the Adoption Doctor section. He lectures on various topics pertaining to Adoption Medicine to support groups and adoption agencies.

  • James Reilly M.D
  • Dr. Reilly is the Assistant Medical Director of 
    AdoptionDoctors.com. He is a Board Certified General Pediatrician. His medical practice consists of general pediatric medicine, urgent care, and preventive medicine. Dr. Reilly provides specialized services catering to adopted children, as well as performing formal ADHD evaluations and medical management.

    Dr. Reilly obtained his M.D. from S.U.N.Y Downstate at Brooklyn. His Pediatric residency training was completed at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Reilly spent an extra year of residency training as Chief Resident for the department of Pediatrics, where he was responsible for educating and supervising pediatric interns and residents in the department.

    Dr. Reilly now practices in Long Island, New York with the rest of the staff of Adoptiondoctors.com. He is an integral part of the educational component of its services. Nicholas Rogu M.D.

Dr. Nicholas Rogu recently joined the staff of AdoptionDoctors.com. He was trained in pre-adoption medical records evaluations by our experienced adoption medicine doctors, James Reilly M.D. and George Rogu M.D. He sees children in an office setting, consults with families regarding pre-adoption evaluations, and performs comprehensive post-adoption pediatric care and evaluations.
In addition to his work with internationally adopted children, 

Dr. Nicholas Rogu has extensive experience in working with children with developmental and physical disabilities. He heads the ADHD Evaluation Center in our general pediatric practice. Dr. Nicholas Rogu obtained his M.D. from SABA University School of Medicine and completed his General Pediatrics medical training at Goryeb Children's Hospital, New Jersey. Dr. Nicholas Rogu is available for pre-adoption medical record review through our online service www.adoptiondoctors.com, and for general pediatric care, ADHD evaluations and post-adoption medical care through our adoption-friendly private practice, RBK Pediatrics.

Dr. Mark Lerner PHD.

Dr. Mark Lerner is a clinical psychologist who focuses on helping people during and in the aftermath of traumatic events. Since a significant number of adoptive children have been exposed to traumatic experiences, Dr. Lerner has a special interest in understanding the psychosocial and behavioral needs of these children. He is the President of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (www.AAETS.org), and the originator of the Acute Traumatic Stress Management intervention model (www.ATSM.org).

Dr. Lerner wrote and produced the newly released audio book, Surviving and Thriving: Living Through a Traumatic Experience. He is the Editor and Publisher of Trauma Response and Trauma Response E-News, the Academy’s official publications, and the author of four books.

Dr. Gregory Gershman

Dr. Gregory is a Russian born School Psychologist who obtained his undergraduate and graduate training in Clinical School Psychology in the United States. For the past eighteen years he has been working with Russian speaking children who either came to this country with their families as immigrants or were adopted by American parents residing in all five boroughs of New York City, Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island, and in Westchester County in New York State.

Meet the Social Workers
 

Leslie Zindulka L.C.S.W

Ms. Leslie Zindulka, L.C.S.W.-R is a New York State licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience in the adoption field.  She received her undergraduate degree in Social Welfare from SUNY Stony Brook and her Masters of Social Work degree from Columbia University .  Additionally, she holds a school social worker specialty credential.  She is an active volunteer with the Adoptive Parents Committee and is a regular guest speaker at monthly workshops.  She has also volunteered her services to families participating in a Russian-orphan summer camp program. 

Ms. Zindulka writes a monthly column, for an adoption web site and limits her practice to adoption home studies. Her clients include married couples, singles, step–parents and those over forty. Ms. Zindulka has both personal and professional adoption experiences. Her interest in adoption began while still in graduate school, where she interned in a foster care agency. Seeing children with no hope of permanency touched her. While working in the public school system, Ms. Zindulka has had the opportunity to work with many domestically andinternationally adopted children. She and her husband are the proud parents of three children, two of whom were adopted domestically. She brings this unique expertise and understanding of the adoption roller coaster ride to her work. After adopting, she left the educational field to pursue her passion to help people attain their dreams of completing their forever family through adoption. Roberta Kalmar L.M.S.W

Roberta Kalmar, LMSW, is licensed as a master social worker by the State of New York and has earned a Master's degree in Social Work from the New York University School of Social Work. She also has earned a Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the City University of New York.

Ms. Kalmar has conducted Adoption Home Studies and prepared reports for over 20 years using her extensive knowledge of and experience with governmental and private agencies dealing with adoption.
